2012 Restructure and Custom Order Process

Posted on 15th Nov 2011 @ 9:50 AM

Hi Everyone,

The last day to order a made-to-order slipcover will be November 30, 2011. The website will remain open however, the ability to place a custom-made order will not be available. There may be ready-to-ship slipcovers available for purchase on occasion.

 WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN?

  • Last day to place custom-made slipcover will be November 30, 2011.
  • All orders in queue will continue to be made and shipped.
  • Rush order request and guaranteed delivery date request still cannot be accommodated.
  • The custom-order process is going to be completely changed and may not exist for certain products.
  • I will be working with the same diligence to ship as soon as possible.

 WHY?

  • The made-to-order process is broken and even with all the changes along the way it cannot be fixed without taking a complete step back to re-work the plan.
  • Last year’s income from this business was less than $40,000 and it isn’t always possible to hire all the people necessary to do all that needs to be done. Bootstrapping and volunteer assistance goes but so far.
  • The effort to obtain a loan or funding to add new jobs has been unsuccessful. The main reasons for denial have been years in business and amount of revenue.
  • My under-eye bags have bags, which are okay, but stress has manifested itself physically through incapacitating back pains, migraines and low immune system.
  • This business has the ability to be so much better than it is and a step back is necessary to move forward.

 WHAT’S NEXT?

  • There will be a ‘re-opening’ in the early Spring of 2012.
  • The re-opening will occur only when ALL existing orders have been shipped and the business re-structuring plan has all the pieces in place.

I have funded 99% of this business, worn many hats in it, drive a 10-year-old car and live very humbly. I will be working for another employer and sewing as many hours as possible outside of that. Being creative is who I am and though this business has had its challenges it is something that I enjoy. I have a strong faith-based belief system and know that the planned changes will bring about positive feelings for everyone involved. Thank you so much to everyone who has been supportive. I look forward to helping you decorate your home or business in 2012.

Sincerely,

Marlene
